Ray Mostogl, General Manager, Bell Bay Aluminium (Pacific Aluminium) was last night awarded CEO Magazine’s Manufacturing Executive of the Year Award at a gala presentation at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney.
CEO Magazine’s Executive of the Year Awards is one of Australia’s most prestigious awards nights recognising leadership skills and business excellence displayed by top executives around the country.
Mr Mostogl said the award is a great achievement that reflects the strength of the team at Bell Bay Aluminium. “I am proud of our operation and the people that work for our business. Over the past three years we have had to make tough business decisions involving carefully measured and calculated risks that have ultimately led to Bell Bay Aluminium’s success today. It is a great honour, not only for me but the smelter to be recognised in this way.”
As General Manager Operations for Bell Bay Aluminium, Ray Mostogl leads the smelter’s operations in Tasmania. Bell Bay Aluminium directly employs 435 people and injects $690 million per annum into Tasmania’s Gross State Product. The smelter produces around 190,000 tonnes of aluminium each year, mostly bound for Asia, and operates 24/7.
Mr Mostogl has played a vital role in leading Bell Bay Aluminium’s business transformation from a lossmaking smelter to one that is holding its own amid the most difficult global market ever experienced in the aluminium industry.
“Manufacturing is vitally important to Tasmania’s economy. Through hard work and perseverance our business has transformed itself to survive. I’m proud of everything that we have all achieved and I look forward to our continued success.”
