Congratulations to Bell Bay Aluminium employees Margaret Richmond, Alana Phegan, Mary-Anne Seen and Monica Henry who were announced as finalists today in the 2017 Tasmanian Women in Resources Awards. Winners will be announced at an awards presentation ceremony to be held at Parliament House in Hobart on Thursday 4 May from 6.30pm.
The Tasmanian Minerals and Energy Council (TMEC) in conjunction with the AusIMM Women in Mining Network Tasmania (WIMnet) is pleased to announce finalists for the 2017 Tasmanian Women in Resources Awards.
The 2017 finalists represent a broad range of roles from within the Tasmania resources sector across five categories.
TMEC, chief executive officer, Wayne Bould said the awards, now in their fourth year, is an important event on the Tasmanian resources industry calendar and recognises inspirational women working in the sector in Tasmania.
“The standard of entries in this year’s awards was extremely high and has resulted in a highly competitive judging process,” Mr Bould said.
Ted Bradshaw, chairman, AusIMM Women in Mining Network Tasmania (WIMnet) said “The number and quality of nominations received in 2017 reflects the growing interest in these awards and the commitment of companies in this sector to achieving greater gender diversity. Resource sector bodies throughout Australia have been promoting the value of increasing the proportion of women at all levels within the sector and these awards form part of that aim creating awareness of inspirational women working in the sector, and encouraging other women to consider it as a career path."
