Rio Tinto Bell Bay Aluminium will celebrate two of its outstanding women leaders, Teresa Lemaire and Lauren Brooks, at the upcoming National Women in Resources and Manufacturing Awards in Brisbane on September 8.
Following their success at the Tasmanian finals, Teresa and Lauren will join a prestigious group of finalists from across Australia, showcasing the talent, resilience, and leadership driving the future of the industry.
Teresa Lemaire, a site superintendent, is a finalist for the Inclusion and Diversity Champion Award, recognising her commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Graduate Mechanical Engineer Lauren Brooks is nominated for the Exceptional Young Woman in Resources Award, celebrating her early-career achievements and potential.
“It is an honour to celebrate these awards alongside some extraordinary women working in resources and manufacturing across Australia,” Lauren said.
“The industry continues to surprise me with the number of different avenues and pathways available. These diverse opportunities call for an even more diverse workplace.
“I am incredibly grateful for the support I have received to explore a career in resources and cannot wait to see what is in store next for me.”
Teresa said the significance of her nomination and the broader impact of inclusive leadership was humbling and deeply meaningful.
“It’s a celebration of resilience, advocacy, and the power of inclusive leadership. There is space here for people from all backgrounds and different skillsets to grow, lead and shape the future of the industry” she said.
“Inclusion, equality and diversity are not just the latest buzz words. Whether it is supporting neurodiverse employees, creating flexible roles for carers or mentoring women into leadership,
inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do - it’s smart business.”
Bell Bay Aluminium General Manager Richard Curtis shared his pride in the achievements of both finalists.
“I am incredibly proud of both Lauren and Teresa being recognised among such a high calibre of finalists. It is testament to their hard work and dedication on-site.”
