Bell Bay releases 2017 Sustainability Report

Bell Bay Aluminium has released its annual Sustainability Report. The report provides a summary of the smelter’s health, safety, environment, business, and community performance during 2017.

Key highlights include the continued success of the smelter’s female employees at the Tasmania Women in Resources awards, as well as a showcase of 10 successful years supporting science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in Tasmanian schools through the global F1 in Schools™ Technology Challenge. The report also details a selection of successes, programs and initiatives undertaken by employees throughout the year including:

  • Electrical Apprentice Stuart Rogers selected as a finalist in the 2017 Tasmanian Training Awards
  • the launch and delivery of the Safety Matters program to all employees
  • extensive installation work completed in the switchyard, enabling the smelter to continue to operate above 325 megawatts and ensuring the safety of Bell Bay employees.
