Bell Bay Aluminium welcomes Premier to site to celebrate 60th anniversary.

Bell Bay Aluminium will celebrate its 60th anniversary this month and today, welcomes Premier Will Hodgman and State Cabinet to view the smelter's operation following the State Cabinet meeting in George Town.

Australia's oldest aluminium smelter and the first aluminium smelter built in the Southern Hemisphere is marking this historic milestone throughout September with a series of events and two public open days.

General Manager Ray Mostogl said: "We are delighted to host the Premier and State Cabinet at Bell Bay today and I would like to acknowledge the support from the Tasmanian community and State and Federal Governments, past and present, who have partnered with Bell Bay Aluminium over the last 60 years."

"I am humbled to be standing here representing the tens of thousands of employees who have worked at Bell Bay Aluminium over the last six decades. Without the tenacity and innovation of these employees we would not be here today. Along with Bell Bay's management team, I look forward to showcasing some of our recent capital projects, key supplier relationships and initiatives to the Premier and his Cabinet."
