A Special Connection

As a temp, Heather Ashley never thought that she would stay at one job for more than a couple of months. That was 17 years ago. Now she is a permanent employee of the Comalco Aluminium Smelter at Bell Bay.

When Heather applied for the temp job years ago, little did she realise how her life would change. She was just happy to have a job, albeit short-term, she thought! Heather began working in reception, taking phone calls and carrying our general administrative duties and is now the Administration Assistant in the Services MRU.

Seventeen years have seen many changes to Comalco and Heather has been there to experience them. Uniforms have changed, safety has increased and Comalco as a Company has moved forward. In Heather’s opinion all the changes that have, and still occur at Comalco are positive.

Heather has high hopes of staying at Comalco until she retires. She values the warm and supportive work environment, the special connections she has made to both the people and the place and looks forward to the years ahead and the many more advances, which 
are inevitable in this world of wondrous technology.
