People

Bell Bay Aluminium’s goal is to be an employer of choice. This means we want the smelter to be recognised as a great place to work where everyone is encouraged and supported to reach their full potential. The way we work ensures that everyone is valued, treated with respect and rewarded for their achievements.

At Bell Bay Aluminium we believe that our people, their knowledge, skills and commitment provide us with a competitive advantage. Our aim is to to encourage the development of our employees and focus on their well-being, performance and working relationships. Likewise we aspire to be an organisation that matters to people.

Our Employees

At Bell Bay we employ nearly 440 talented men and women to maintain and support the safe and efficient operation of our smelter. We recognise that our work force is key to our future success.

We value diversity and pride ourselves on recruiting, training and mentoring talented people. They bring with them knowledge, skills and fresh ideas which in turn benefit our operation, the community and Tasmania.

The commitment and dedication of our employees is well known. Nearly one quarter of our employees have reached the milestone of 25 years service with the smelter.  We value the depth of knowledge these people have about our operation and also the significant contribution they make in transferring this knowledge through mentoring others.

Traditionally our industry has been male dominated but in recent years we have sought to create a more diverse workforce and provide career opportunities for women. The number of women working in operational and leadership roles grows annually.
