Bell Bay Aluminium Superintendent Environment and Analytical reading Family Tree to Star of the Sea Catholic School students.
In partnership with the George Town Library, Bell Bay Aluminium combined their 2022 annual tree-planting day with National Simultaneous Storytime, held on 25 May 2022.
Every year an Australian children’s picture book is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around Australia to promote the value of reading and literacy.
Bell Bay Aluminium shared this year’s story, Family Tree, with over 85 students from Port Dalrymple School, South George Town Primary, and Star of the Sea Catholic College.
Federal Member for Bass, Bridget Archer; Mayor of George Town, Greg Keiser; and Bell Bay Aluminium’s Superintendent for Environment and Analytical, Brad Warner, took on the role of storyteller for the day.
The book Family Tree led seamlessly into Bell Bay Aluminium’s team teaching the children the importance of tree planting for the environment and our local community.
The students were then shown how to plant the trees.

“Our little helpers were incredible, planting over 2,000 native trees. Their energy and enthusiasm was wonderful to be around.”
Brad Warner praised the community collaboration that brought this occasion together.
“It was a great team effort with the George Town Library and The Rotary Club of George Town to create this day for our local primary school students.”
The Rotary Club of George Town looked after the barbeque for the day and the George Town Library, with Bell Bay Aluminium’s sponsorship, organised a gift bag for each child that included a copy of the book Family Tree.
“It was a delight to see the eyes of our little visitors light up when they received their own copy of Family Tree to take home,” Brad Warner added.
“We hope this will help remind them of their day planting trees and of the importance those trees will have in our environment for years to come.”
Each year Bell Bay Aluminium plants a variety of native trees on old farming land it owns to re-establish ecosystems where our local fauna and flora can thrive once again.
