Safety equipment to support a riding for the disabled program, a defibrillator for the Northern Support School's indoor pool area and assistance with a facility upgrade for the Beaconsfield Primary School Parent Association are just three of the nine projects selected by Bell Bay Aluminium to receive a community grant.
Beaconsfield Primary School Parent Association Inc., Ansons Bay Progress Association, Doing Life Together, Tamar FM, Point of Women Inc. Clarence Point, Pegasus Riding School, Northern Support School, Launceston Elderly Citizen's Club and George Town Archers Inc. are the most recent grant recipients from Bell Bay Aluminium's annual community grants program.
A committee of Bell Bay Aluminium employees had the arduous task of assessing the smelter's most recent round of community grants which has again proved to be very popular.
The successful organisations will receive grants ranging in value from $1000 to $2,000 at a morning tea and presentation at Pepper's York Cove in George Town on Tuesday, 17 November at 10am.
The grants will enable these organisations to purchase much needed equipment or deliver specific support programs.
Both Ansons Bay Progress Association and Northern Support School will purchase defibrillators. Beaconsfield Primary School Parent Association will use the funds to replace seating in the school's outdoor area.
Launceston Elderly Citizen's Club will purchase and install new lighting in their club which is utilised by members for a wide range of sporting and social gatherings.
Tamar FM will fund a new satellite dish and related equipment that will enable delivery of content to listeners in the Tamar Valley and Doing Life Together will utilise their funds toward an annual event which raises awareness of mental health issues in the local George Town community.
Pegasus Riding School will purchase safety helmets for a riding program which aims to provide a safe and positive farm-based experience for adults and children of all abilities. Point of Women Inc. will use the funds for their WW1 Memorial Project at Sunset Boulevard, Clarence Point.
George Town Archers will purchase new equipment that will replace equipment that was stolen from their club rooms in late 2014.
Bell Bay Aluminium has a long and proud history of supporting Tasmanian communities. The community grants program provides financial support to not-for-profit and community organisations across the state.
