Bell Bay Aluminium announces resignation of General Manager, Ray Mostogl
Mar 27 2018
After seven years as General Manager of Bell Bay Aluminium (BBA), Ray Mostogl has announced that he will leave the smelter at the end of April.
Ray was appointed to the role of General Manager in March 2011 following a lengthy career spanning 31 years with Rio Tinto and BHP operations in Australia and New Zealand. During his tenure, Ray has led BBA through many challenges including potential closure in 2012 and the 2016 Basslink outage and energy crisis when the smelter reduced its electricity consumption by 10% for a number of months.
Pacific Aluminium Chief Operating Officer Brian Cooper said: “Throughout his time in the role Ray has demonstrated considerable leadership skills in building the smelter’s capacity and spearheading significant change and business transformation to ensure the smelter’s sustainability into the future.
“I would like to thank Ray for his enormous contribution, hard work, dedication and commitment over the past seven years. He leaves BBA in a position of strength and growing opportunity as the world moves toward a low carbon future. On behalf of Pacific Aluminium and the team at Bell Bay I wish Ray and his wife Rose all the best for the next phase of their lives.”
Reflecting on his resignation, Ray said: “This has been a difficult decision for me after seven years in the role. While I leave Bell Bay with mixed emotions, I am immensely proud of my contribution to the business. I thank the BBA team for the privilege of working with them and the tremendous support I have received from the team over the past seven years in my role as general manager.”
Ray will officially step down from his position as General Manager on Friday 27 April. Kevin Taylor, General Manager, Health, Safety and Environment, Pacific Operations will be the interim General Manager and will commence in the role on Monday 30 April.
